SM Cares Advocates for Creating Safe Spaces for Breastfeeding with Free to Feed Photo Campaign


In celebration of National Breastfeeding Month this August, SM Cares continues to promote breastfeeding awareness by mounting the “Free to Feed: Championing Safe Spaces for Breastfeeding at SM” photo contest and exhibit.

The SM Cares Free to Feed photo contest invites photo enthusiasts and mothers to capture their breastfeeding moment anywhere within SM Supermalls.

The Free to Feed photo contest is open to all photo enthusiasts. Interested participants are invited to submit original photos featuring breastfeeding mothers in any area within any SM mall, such as the food court, car park, tenant areas and more, but most especially the designated breastfeeding station, until August 21, 2023. Winning entries will be announced on August 28 at SM City North EDSA, and will be awarded as much as Php 30,000 in prizes. 80 SM malls nationwide provide a breastfeeding station as a safe space for mothers to continue nourishing their child.

A photo exhibit roadshow and forum will be held throughout August to serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting mothers in their breastfeeding journey. Visitors can view the Free to Feed exhibit during the following schedules at these participating SM malls: August 10-20 at SM City Davao, August 15-21 at SM City Pampanga, August 16-20 at SM City Dasmariñas, August 19-24 at SM City Iloilo, and August 28 to September 2 at SM City North EDSA.

As the World Health Organization focuses on promoting breastfeeding in the workplace, SM Supermalls provides accessible and safe spaces for nursing mothers through 80 breastfeeding stations available for customers and employees across SM malls nationwide.
SM Mall Nurses conduct sensitivity training sessions for frontliners to help create a welcoming environment for breastfeeding mothers.

“We came up with this photo competition and exhibit because we believe in the importance of advocating breastfeeding awareness among Filipinos and encouraging safe and welcoming spaces for mothers,” said SM Cares Committee on Women and Breastfeeding Mothers Program Director Atty. Pearl Jayagan Turley. “SM malls are a prime example of such a place where mothers are free to breastfeed anywhere, while also having breastfeeding stations that are fully equipped with anything moms might need to nourish their babies.”

Vivo celebrates Chinese New Year with the CNY Photo Contest

Vivo launched a special photo contest in time to celebrate the Chinese New Year this 2018.



The photo contest held last February 3 and 4 at Binondo in Manila, first involving a few well-known lifestyle bloggers for a first taste. 

Vivo invited 18 lifestyle bloggers for eventful photowalk around the oldest China town in the world. Bloggers were asked to capture photos that embody the Chinese culture may it be the food, the ambiance, the traditional lucky ornaments, or Binondo’s old charm as a whole. 

Bloggers enjoyed taking photos with their Vivo smartphone because of its known first-rate features:

  • The 24MP front camera for perfect CNY celebration selfies complemented by the camera’s HDR mode for stunning images with dramatic shadowing and highlights and the portrait bokeh for added aesthetics.
  • The professional mode, which mimics the manual mode of DSLR cameras, allows users to adjust the exposure, white balance, ISO, and focus mode creating creative photos.

The two-day Binondo photowalk with the bloggers was a special promotional event to get the bloggers’ followers to join Vivo’s Chinese New Year (CNY) Photo Contest where a participant needs to take the best Chinese New Year-inspired photos and upload them in their Instagram account for a chance to win a brand-new Vivo V7+.

The bloggers’ photowalk for Vivo’s CNY Photo Contest proved to be a success as entries numbering to more than 200 have been uploaded on Instagram by February 14. Out of all the entries, the top four best creative photos were chosen by the participating lifestyle bloggers with one winner announced during the Chinese New Year celebrations last February 16 at the Lucky Chinatown Mall. At the event, Vivo showcased the Chinese New Year-inspired photos in a special photowall. Vivo’s official mascot Little V entertained the crowd with a dance rendition of the hit song 24k. 

Later, Vivo awarded the Chinese New Year Photo Contest winner Angela Palacio for her photo of her Vivo V5 capturing an illuminated stretch of red Chinese lanterns.

Kimberly Pauig, Grand Winner of “AirAsia Travel Photographer 2016” Contest

After hundreds of entries and a series of exciting challenges, Kimberly Pauig, a writer from Pasig City, emerged as the winner of this year’s AirAsia Travel Photographer Contest, gets 200,000 AirAsia BIG points!

The results were announced live at the dramatic AirAsia Travel Photographer Final Show held in Green Sun, Makati City. 

From hundreds of entries, the field was whittled down to six finalists who travelled all the way to Macau to compete in different challenges. Finalists Neil Michael Cardano, a Hotel Front Desk Officer from Puerto Princesa, Palawan; Mithilaya Miclat, a Nutritionist-Dietician and Social Entrepreneur from Davao City; Eliseo Zuniga, a lawyer from Taguig City; Kimberly Pauig, a writer from Pasig City; Daniel Magbanua, a Fashion Photography student from Quezon City and Dave Poblete, a BPO employee from Makati City, showed their skills in portraiture, food photography and more, as they visited Coloane Village, Fisherman’s Wharf and other cultural attractions in Macau.

At the Final Show hosted by DJ Tracy Abad of The Mad House of Mellow 94.7, the top three finalists, DJ Magbanua, Kimberly Pauig and Dave Poblete were selected and immediately went through final presentations to the judges who are composed of young leaders and veterans in the field of photography, branding and visual arts. The panel of judges included Nachi Ugarte, creative director of GRID magazine; Jacob Maentz, documentary photographer; Wawi Navarrosa, artist/photographer, founder of Thousandfold.
"We are impressed with the quality and composition of entries we received this year. The six finalists did a wonderful job in the final leg of challenges with each of their photos revealing a compelling story. Needless to say, it was a difficult decision to choose only one winner." said Jacob Maentz.
After an intense deliberation session, Kimberly Pauig, a writer from Pasig City whose beautiful portrait shot wowed the judges, became the “AirAsia Travel Photographer 2016”.

She received 200,000 AirAsia BIG Points, a surprise vacation package and several prizes from partner brands including GRID magazine and Flight 001 Philippines.

Top 6 finalists of AirAsia Travel Photographer 2016 contest revealed

From over 500 participants in this year’s search for AirAsia Travel Photographer, six young aspiring photographers have been selected and presented to media and bloggers, Thursday, August 4 at Casa Italia, Burgos Park Bldg. Burgos Circle at Forbes Town Center in Fort Bonifacio. They are Dave Poblete (Makati); Daniel Magbanua (Quezon City); Neil Michael Cardano (Puerto Princesa); Atty. Eliseo Zuniga (Taguig); Kimberly Pauig (Pasig) and Mithilaya Miclat (Davao).

On its second-year, the photo contest is part of AirAsia’s continuous effort to inspire, engage and empower the youth to pursue their goals by traveling and sharing their stories through stunning images and photographs.    

The six finalists went through rounds of judging and were selected based on their personality, creativity, content, originality and technical or visual presentation.

The Medical City presents the winners of “TMC for Kids: Healthy Eating Plate" poster-making contest on good nutrition

“TMC for Kids: Healthy Eating Plate – A poster-making contest on good nutrition” winners were awarded last July 27, 2016 at the TMC Auditorium.

Winners received plaques, gift certificates and gift bags, while a special prize given to the entry with most likes on The Medical City’s Facebook page. The winning designs were used by The Medical City for internal posters and educational materials.

Advocating proper nutrition through arts, the Medical City raises awareness on proper nutrition through a poster making contest dubbed as "TMC for Kids: Healthy Eating Plate."

The Medical City Nutrition Management Services, together with the Center for Developmental Pediatrics, have taken heed of this concern by launching a poster-making contest dubbed “TMC for Kids: Healthy Eating Plate – A poster-making contest on good nutrition.” 

This project is also in line with the “Pinggang Pinoy” campaign of the Department of Health (DOH) in celebration of the National Nutrition Month 2016. The contest was opened to all Grade 5 students and each school sent their five best entries. A total of 25 posters have already been entered into the competition. 

“We are glad of the turnout and the number of entries that we received, which means more and more people are now realizing the fact and the dangers of unhealthy eating, especially among kids. We are happy as well that people responded to this contest, which is aligned with the DOH’s National Nutrition Month campaign and serves as a vital part of the hospital’s advocacy on healthy eating that should start at an early age,” declares Dr. Marianna Sy-Quia Sioson, Head of the Nutrition Management Department of The Medical City.



The impact of good nutrition early in life can reach far into the future.

The right nutrition in the first 1,000 days between a woman’s pregnancy and her child’s second birthday builds the foundation for the child’s ability to grow, learn and thrive.

However, recent surveys showed a significant rise in malnutrition among Filipino children, making the situation truly alarming. Without a doubt, undernutrition still exists and remains a national priority but pediatric overweight and obesity have both become a growing concern among medical practitioners and should be of importance to mothers and would-be mothers.

TPB launches “Tag the Fun” photo contest

Enjoying your vacation or business trip in the Philippines? Share your best travel moments on camera and join “Tag the Fun”- an exciting photo contest organized by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), together with Agoda, that rewards local and foreign travelers for choosing the Philippines as their destination.

Submit as many entries as you wish on or before the following dates with the corresponding weekly themes—October 11: Business, October 18: Lifestyle, October 25: Sports, Adventure & Ecotourism, November 2: History & Culture, and November 9: Music, Arts & Entertainment.

There will be two winners for each week (1 local and 1 foreign) who will receive “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” premium items.

On November 13, 2015, best entries will be chosen (1 local and 1 foreign) among the 10 weekly winners to award the grand prizes.
