As part of CMIP’s social collaboration programs, this initiative aims to provide a Technical Training Hub with all the necessary up-to-date equipment and tools, enhancing TESDA’s programs related to HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Airconditioning) and Home Appliance repair and installation with the Integration of IOT Technology.

This collaboration seeks to help produce competent and reliable technical workforce aligned with TESDA’s NC II and NC III regulations and certifications.

“This memorandum of agreement signing signifies more than just a formal commitment, it represents a milestone that collaborates effort between TESDA-Navotas, CMIP, and the City of Navotas. Together, we are dedicated to achieving a common goal, the establishment of an accessible, relevant, and conducive training facility for Filipinos who wish to learn and improve their technical skills,” shares Anna Marie Alejandro, General Manager of CMIP.

Tips to keep your cool this summer season, Protect yourself from heat stroke

Summer is here. The cool, windy days are almost over. In a few weeks, everyone will be trading in their sweaters with their swimsuits to herald the days of sun and sand. But while the coming sunny days promise fun moments at the beach, one must never forget to be diligent when it comes to problems common during this season. 

With the heat index expected to rise, the public is once again reminded to be diligent against summer problems like heat stroke. The affliction, which becomes common during hot and humid conditions, is considered a serious medical emergency by the Department of Health (DOH). 

Heat stroke happens when the body overheats and includes symptoms like headaches, dizziness, intense thirst, and fainting. When left untreated, it can cause damage to the heart, kidneys, and the brain.

Enjoy the moments of feeling sand between your toes while sipping piña coladas under bright umbrellas. While you are at it, practice the tips below to make sure you keep your cool this summer season. 

1. Wear appropriate clothing

Wear a wide-brimmed hat and long-sleeved, light-colored clothing when going outside. Other than preventing heat stroke, this will also help protect the skin from sunburn. 

2. Schedule your activities

The DOH suggests to schedule heavy-duty tasks during the beginning or end of the day when the temperature is much cooler. The risk of heat stroke particularly increases when doing strenuous activities (e.g. exercising). 

3. Keep hydrated 

We sweat more during summer so there is a higher need to replenish the fluids in the body. It is suggested to drink more water than coffee, soda, tea, and alcoholic beverages since they are believed to have a diuretic effect, meaning they can trigger the body to expel more liquid (in the form of urine) rather than replenish the body’s water levels. 

4. Limit your time outdoors

Limiting the time spent outdoors is advised during the hot summer days. Resting in places with air conditioning to cool down is highly recommended. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), exposure to air conditioning for a few hours a day can lessen the risk for heat-related illnesses.

A New Wave of Cooking aims to solve the food-preparation woes of Filipino households, to change the way you do things around the kitchen. 

With the lifestyles of modern homemakers changing at a fast pace, lengthy and tedious meal preparations have become quite a challenge for champions of the household. During the product launch event, Phillip Trapaga, General Manager of Midea Philippines shared that

Included in Midea’s newest kitchen line are the microwave oven, induction cooker, multi-cooker, rice cooker, and kettles.

Microwave meals for us low as P1

Leading Midea’s kitchen range is its all-new microwave ovens, which let people cook basic meals for as low as P1. These appliances save on electrical consumption, as it is twice as fast as a regular stove—making it friendlier to electricity bills.

“People often have misconceptions about microwave ovens—claiming that they blow-up electricity bills. But it is all about the quality and efficiency of your appliances,” Chef Rob Pengson said. 

“Actually, you can cook using the microwave. In fact, microwaves can prepare meals that are just as nutritious (or even more) as the ones we prepare the traditional way,” he attested.

Midea’s microwave ovens are perfect for quick and easy-to-cook recipes that do not compromise nutritional value. Trapaga described, “Using our microwaves, you can get 10 percent less fat on your meals compared to frying. At the same time, they can prepare basic meals in as quick as 90 seconds.”

Faster cooking time, lesser cost

The Midea induction cooker prepares food twice as fast compared to regular electrical stoves. In fact, it is equipped with double-coil technology that saves 37 percent on electrical consumption. 

“With rising energy prices, electrical efficiency is a top priority of our kitchen line,” explained Trapaga.

Efficient brewing

Coffee and tea are breakfast staples for the Filipino. For this, Midea has a line of kettles, which save-up to 33 percent on power consumption, while heating twice as fast as regular kettles. 

The smart way to cook rice

Another innovative product from the brand is its rice cooker. This product is equipped with smart sensors that automatically measure the ideal cooking time you need to get the perfect rice, no matter how much water you put.
