Gloc-9 Has A New Propelling Single “Di Umiinom” Featuring Hero

Our Paboritong Makata moves along his lyrical journey with what will be his Pilak album, a musical celebration to mark his 25 illustrious years in the Philippine music industry.
Before the month of August ends, Gloc-9 unveils "Di Umiinom", the 5th single for this upcoming anniversary album and this time around, he shares limelight with Hero, another young buck in the Asintada Management's stable of talents.

Sometimes when someone gets badly hurt and reaches their breaking point, they tend to perform deeds that they don’t usually do, or haven’t done before. Perhaps that act is a coping mechanism to escape all the pain and sadness that they feel. That’s how the song “Di Umiinom” was formulated by the veteran rapper.

In this special track, he taps the rising hip-hop star Hero to further elevate the overall vibe with his technical bars and carefully honed rhymes. Their tandem’s verses are captivating, intoxicating, infused with gloom as they address the sad and painful story with utmost conviction. Truly, the theme of this song is something fresh and something that the one and only Makata Sa Pinas haven’t attempted in the past, a reason he is very much excited for this release. Moreover, Thyro Alfaro once again delivered the goods and provided awesome mixing and arrangement.

This special release comes alongside a vibrant music video directed and edited by Aaron Maagma. (WATCH HERE)

Since Gloc-9 embarked on a US tour for the OPM Summerfest events there along with other iconic local acts, he was no longer able to film his parts here in the Philippines. However, because of the sheer dedication to his craft, our Paboritong Makata found a way to deliver his parts for the music video, special thanks to Mark Escueta, who's band Rivermaya was in the concert series with him. They shot it during the New York leg of the tour using his trusty Samsung S22+ or in his own words “Para-paraan lang talaga.” On the other hand, Hero's parts were filmed at Tipsy Pig in Quezon City.

This is the third collaboration between the Gloc-9 and Hero, with the previous two garnering more than 1.2 million in YouTube viewership. "Di Umiinom" is now streaming on all digital platforms under Universal Records.

Gloc-9 Has A Confession To Make In His New Single “Kumpisal” Featuring Skusta Clee

The one and only Makata Sa Pinas Gloc-9 is releasing yet another single this May! This new song is called "Kumpisal", the Filipino rap icon’s third release for his Pilak album in celebration of his 25th anniversary in the Philippine music industry. Joining him in this string-fueled and vibrant collaboration is Skusta Clee, who’s undoubtedly one of the most popular rap artists on the OPM scene today.

Written and composed by Gloc-9 with musical arrangement, mixed, and mastered by Thyro Alfaro, "Kumpisal" looks into the dynamics of the Catholic sacrament of confession from the perspective of a confessee.

The lyrics? It’s classic Gloc-9 in his prime that you’ve always loved — bathed in cryptic wordplay and ethereally anthemic that even this mundane topic can transform into a poetic masterpiece. Gloc-9 said that he already wrote different songs on various topics, but releasing a song about religion and spirituality? Not yet. Thus, this song was carefully crafted and was made possible this year.

Joining the veteran hip-hop superstar in this latest endeavor is Skusta Clee and this the second time that these two rap idols have collaborated. Their first pairing was in Skusta Clee's single "Karma" wherein the Gloc-9 wrote the rap part. Its official music video released last November 2021 now has over 27 million views on YouTube and even reached #1 Trending For Music.

An official music video for “Kumpisal” is released alongside the single. The zany visual directed by Kirby Balagtas of YouMeUs MNL was shot inside a church with guest appearances by Shanti Dope, DJ Klumcee and Hellmerry. The exclusive premiere of the music video transpired during the intimate “Kumpisal” press conference inside a classy movie theater. (WATCH OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO HERE)

Prior to this release, Gloc-9 was able to drop singles “Paliwanag” with Yeng Constantino and the title “Pilak” as part of his 25th anniversary album. Check out "Kumpisal" on your favorite music streaming platforms.

Gloc-9 returns with "TULAy"!

GLOC-9 "TULAy" EP PUSHES THE OPM SCENE FURTHER

With years of hardwork and countless of hits under his belt, the name Gloc-9 has become synonymous to Rap Icon in the OPM Industry. This 2019, Gloc-9 returns with "TULAy" a new EP that brings new music from the rapper and pushes the OPM scene even further.

As its name suggests, Gloc-9 brings two concepts together in "TULAy" — it is a play on the tagalog words "tula" (poem) and "tulay" (bridge), both terms signifying what the rapper wants to embody in this EP. For one, hip-hop is at the forefront as Gloc showcases his skills in writing hard-hitting and socially relevant verses, also experimenting with new styles and flows.

But it does not stop there — while the beloved rap icon pushes his music forward, he also uses the EP as a platform to introduce young blood to the OPM scene.

All five tracks bring forth a collaboration between Gloc-9 and one or more emerging OPM artists. Tracks featured include "Maleta", the first collab between him and singer-songwriter Julie Anne San Jose, "Lagi" featuring rising OPM act Al James, "Pamaypay" with Tawag ng Tanghalan-alum and R&B singer JKris, and "Sino" featuring Abaddon and Smugglaz. Rounding up the EP is "Totoo" featuring Zjay and Lirah Bermudez.

With his passion for writing and creating relevant hits, and his dedication to bring the OPM scene to the forefront, it's no wonder that Gloc-9 continues to stay on top of his game.

TULAy EP is now available for streaming on iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, and Amazon Music under Universal Records.
