Pioneer Insurance announces #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition finalists, Vote now for your fave song!


After a rigorous selection process, ten talented student songwriters have been chosen as the finalists of Pioneer Insurance’s #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition.

Pioneer Insurance launched the #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition in partnership with the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) to encourage the youth to pursue artistic endeavors and to celebrate the Filipino trait of resiliency.

Applicants were challenged to write a song expressing their own unique take on Filipino resiliency. After screening hundreds of submissions from students all over the country, the board of judges, composed of practitioners from the music industry, selected entries to move on to the final round of judging.

The songs cover a wide range of genres from straightforward pop to alternative pop, acoustic, and even electronic ballads. 

“We’re happy to have received such a variety of song submissions. It just goes to show that the next generation of Filipino musicians have much to offer,” said Pioneer’s Marketing Head Len Pozon.

The public can listen and vote for their favorite songs at www.moveonlang.ph from January 4 to 23, 2017. The finalist with the most online votes will be crowned the Online Favorite and awarded a cash prize of PHP 10,000.

The top ten entries will also be interpreted by performers during the Finals Night on February 2, 2017, at Hard Rock Café in Glorietta 3, Makati City, with live coverage on Pioneer Insurance’s Facebook Page, www.facebook.com/PioneerIsYourInsurance. A panel of judges will then decide the top three winners of the competition.

The Grand Winner of Pioneer Insurance’s #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition will bring home PHP 100,000, while the second and third placers will win PHP 50,000 and PHP 30,000 respectively. The remaining seven non-winning participants will receive a consolation prize of PHP 10,000. All finalists will be awarded PHP 100,000 worth of insurance coverage courtesy of Pioneer.

A staunch supporter of the arts, Pioneer shares their message of hope through yearly competitions in various creative fields like filmmaking, playwriting, and this time, songwriting.

Pioneer Insurance accepting entries for #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition

Pioneer, one of the top life and non-life insurance companies in the country, is inviting aspiring songwriters and musicians to join the #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition.

Participants can submit their entries at www.moveonlang.ph until November 15, 2016 for a chance to win a cash prize of up to PHP 100,000 plus PHP 100,000 worth of insurance coverage from Pioneer, as well as the opportunity to have their songs recorded and performed by musicians of their choice.

Applicants must be aged 15 to 24 years old and currently enrolled as students in the Philippines to join. Each applicant can submit up to five song entries, with a maximum song length of 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Applicants can also register as a group with up to five members, with one member designated as the official representative.


In line with the theme of moving on, song entries must be inspirational and about bouncing back from life’s challenges.

“We wanted a theme that would exemplify what being a Filipino is all about. We are known all over the world for our resilience, with new stories appearing everyday about Filipinos getting back on their feet after life has dealt them a hard blow. We want this competition to produce songs that can inspire the nation to keep on moving forward despite setbacks and difficulties,” shared Pioneer’s Marketing Head Len Pozon.

A panel of professionals and practitioners from the music industry will screen the entries and select ten finalists, all of whom will receive PHP 100,000 worth of insurance coverage from Pioneer. The finalists will be announced on December 5, 2016, and their songs posted at the event’s official site www.moveonlang.ph as well as on Pioneer’s social media pages (Facebook page www.facebook.com/PioneerIsYourInsurance).

Online voting period will begin on December 5 upon announcement of the finalists and will end on December 16. The finalist with the most votes will be crowned Online Favorite and awarded a cash prize of PHP 10,000.

A PHP 100,000 cash prize awaits the grand winner, while the second and third placer will get PHP 50,000 and PHP 30,000 respectively. A consolation prize of PHP 10,000 will be given to each of the remaining seven finalists.

Over the past few years, Pioneer has made it their priority to support the arts by encouraging the youth towards artistic pursuits through competitions in various creative fields like video production, playwriting and this year, songwriting.
“Filipinos have always loved music, and songs are a powerfully simple way to express oneself and inspire others,” shares Ms. Pozon. “We want to share Pioneer’s message of hope through this competition and through the next generation of homegrown musicians. This competition is also a wonderful chance for us to support and promote our local music industry among the youth, through our partnership with FILSCAP” says Ms. Pozon.

Since September, the FILSCAP Campus Caravan toured several universities around Metro Manila. Students from the University of The Philippines Diliman, University of Santo Tomas, San Beda College Alabang, University of Makati and De La Salle University Manila had the chance to learn about songwriting from prominent songwriters and icons from the music industry like Rico Blanco, Yael Yuzon, Gloc 9, Champ Lui Pio, and Raimund Marasigan. The Campus Caravan is set to visit University of the Philippines Los Baños and University of Mindanao this November.

#MoveOnNaLang and Join FILSCAP and Pioneer's Songwriting Competition


FILSCAP and Pioneer partner for College Songwriting Talk, Competition


This 2016, FILSCAP, the sole and official music copyright society in the Philippines, together with Pioneer, one of the top life and non-life insurance companies in the country, are proud to launch the FILSCAP Campus Caravan, a college songwriting talk that aims to guide aspiring musicians in the different aspects of songwriting. 

During its run, the FILSCAP Campus Caravan is set to visit De La Salle University-Manila, San Beda College Alabang, UP Diliman, University of Santo Tomas and University of Makati. Each visit is set to have a songwriting talk to be conducted by FILSCAP, a face-to-face session with a well-known Filipino songwriter, and introduce the collaboration’s second event – the #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition.


The #MoveOnLang Songwriting Competition aims to give musically–inclined college students a venue to showcase their songwriting skills on the Filipino trait of resiliency – bouncing back from setbacks.



Interested applicants can visit www.moveonlang.ph to register and submit their entry. Over Php 260,000 in cash will be given away, with Php 100,000 being the grand prize. Winners will also receive insurance coverage from Pioneer, while a special prize will also be awarded to the Online Favorite.

The PINOY MUSIC SUMMIT 2014: “BASTA PINOY, PUSH MO YAN!” is this year’s boldest event in the promotion of local music, uniting music makers and music lovers to keep our local music playing, loud and strong.



So, how do we keep our music playing? Let's join the PINOY MUSIC SUMMIT 2014: “BASTA PINOY, PUSH MO YAN!”

The music industry stakeholders will convene to push our local music industry to greater heights at the PINOY MUSIC SUMMIT 2014: “BASTA PINOY, PUSH MO YAN!” on March 19, 2014 (Wednesday) at the Diosdado Macapagal Hall, Landbank Plaza Bldg. located at 1598 M.H. Del Pilar cor. Dr. J. Quintos Sts., Malate, Manila.

The PINOY MUSIC SUMMIT 2014: “BASTA PINOY, PUSH MO YAN!” is a conference which aims to unite various players in the music industry in making conscious commitments to the development and promotion of original Filipino music.

The convenors of the Pinoy Music summit are led by the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP), along with the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), Philippine Association of Recording Industry (PARI), Assosasyon ng Musikong Pilipino Foundation Inc. (AMP), Music Copyright Administrators of the Philippines (MCAP) and PHILPOP Foundation.

The convenors recognize that original Filipino music faces many challenges, yet thrives nonetheless through various evolving forms. Local music not only stands as an expression of our culture but it can also be pushed to be an important driver for economic progress.

Singer-songwriter and FILSCAP President Noel Cabangon will be acting as the conference director, fully supported by singer-songwriter and OPM President, Ogie Alcasid.

Stalwart composer and PhilPop Foundation’s Executive Director, Maestro Ryan Cayabyab will talk about the State of the Filipino Music Industry.

The PINOY MUSIC SUMMIT 2014: “BASTA PINOY, PUSH MO YAN!” will also feature important talks on the effects of technology and legislation on the development of local music, as well as insights from the industry players of successful music models abroad.

Various stakeholders of the music industry – musicians, record labels, the government sector, media, and various representatives of the music consumer groups will be invited to the said event.

Through focused group discussions among the speakers and participants, the PINOY MUSIC SUMMIT 2014: “BASTA PINOY, PUSH MO YAN!” aims to propose recommendations and programs that will propel our local music industry towards new directions.

The one-day summit will be concluded by special performances from the country’s leading musicians and artists.
