Fall “Stupid in Love” with MAX at his Ayala Malls shows this April!

Can’t get enough of ‘STUPID IN LOVE’? Then you’re in luck, because multi-platinum Warner recording artist MAX is coming to Manila for three mall shows!

Today’s rising popstar

MAX has been in the music scene for a while now, but his viral bop 'STUPID IN LOVE' featuring LE SSERAFIM's Huh Yunjin has gained him a new level of global popularity and critical acclaim.

He also just released ‘LOVE IN STEREO,’ his third album that caps off a series of beautiful singles. ‘STUPID IN LOVE,’ which recently premiered its official music video, is just one of twelve remarkable hits MAX features here. The no-skip album also contains collaborations with renowned artists, such as 'IT'S YOU' featuring keshi, 'STRINGS' with JVKE and Bazzi, and 'BUTTERFLIES' with Ali Gatie.

Luckily, Filipino fans now have the opportunity to watch this rising popstar perform these well-loved songs! MAX is returning to the Philippines to perform a string of mall shows, namely at the UP Town Center on April 5, at Ayala Malls Manila Bay on April 6, and at One Ayala on April 7. With MAX’s last visit being way back in 2016, fans are surely excited for this highly-anticipated return.

A global phenomenon

MAX’s music is fueled by authenticity, something that has become apparent with his unfiltered, heart-on-sleeve lyrics and handcrafted visuals. The way he invites listeners to be part of his world is what makes him so relatable, which is why his rise to fame comes as no surprise.

One good example is how 'STUPID IN LOVE' took the world -- including the Philippines, by storm upon release. Right out the gate, the track exploded worldwide with 160 million TikTok views, 60K TikTok video creates, and 4 million streams in less than four days. Within the Philippines alone, the track has already achieved over 3 million streams on Spotify. It’s obvious that Filipinos love songs that come from the heart – something MAX excels at – as the Philippines currently ranks third among MAX's global fanbase.

The next big thing

There’s no doubt that MAX’s return to the Philippines will show just how much he’s grown as an artist. After all, he has toured the world multiple times over, with recognition from multiple media outfits. This includes being called "A young pop god" by GQ, the "top pop star to watch" by Billboard, and being nominated for "Best New Pop Artist" by iHeartRadio Music Awards. His music continues to send a message of creating safe spaces where everyone can feel accepted, and it’s only a matter of time until MAX reaches greater heights.

Ayala Malls Market! Market! presents ‘Obras Filipinas’

In honor of the Philippines’ beauty showcased from the handiworks of local artisans, Ayala Malls Market! Market! presents “Obras Filipinas.”

Market! Market! is known for housing several themed bazaars, outlets, and bargain stores that guarantee goers a unique shopping experience. This year, it provides a home for the festive costumes made by promising and exceptional Filipino couturiers through Obras Filipinas.

The exhibit comprises three categories: Filipiniana, national costumes, and ethnic-inspired. Various outfits from different regions will be presented, tributing our history, culture, ethnic origins, and religious practices.

Moreover, this event coincides with the Buwan ng Wika celebration. Currently, held at the Market! Market! Activity Center in BGC, Taguig City until August 28.

Obras Filipinas is a gathering of local designers whose artistry parallels our colorful customs and traditions. At the moment, the festivity displays many fabric ensembles depicting authentic Filipino culture.

A peek at the 'Ating Kasuotan' exhibit

For instance, JP Chua's creation reimagines the scary image often expected from local folklore. She proved that a half-human and half-horse creature like Tikbalang could be an eerie but phenomenal clothing inspiration.

Likewise, Er Stephen Alvarado's version of the mythical Ibong Adarna is as colorful as its story and purpose. Not only does it pay homage to the beauty of the Mayon Volcano, but it's a symbol for the LGBTQ+ community.

In addition, some costumes in the exhibit adhere to the religious beliefs of Filipinos, like Marbin Garcia's "Queen Elena." According to the Bulakan, Bulacan native, it depicts the search for the cross of Christ and the creativity of the province's Singkaban Festival. The ensemble was hailed the Best in National Costume last Miss World Philippines 2022.

Meanwhile, it's a different feeling when our nostalgia comes to its physical form. One can reminisce childhood through the "Taho Warrior" ensemble made by designer Erjohn de la Serna. He also created "Hulya," worn by Julia Saubier, which won the award for Best in National Costume during the Miss Universe Philippines 2022.

Speaking of an award, Edwin Uy, known in the industry for his victorious pieces, will also parade some of his outstanding creations. He is exhibiting his Golden Philippine Eagle gown that clinched the title Best in National Costume at the Miss Global 2016.

The rest of Obras Filipinas’ featured designers are the following:

       Basil Malicsi

       Bibay Bautista

       Carl Arcusa

       Cathy Mora Capistrano

       Dee Jay Abustan

       Ehrran Montoya

Parañaque Express Lingkod Office, the country’s first one stop shop government, service center, now open in Ayala Malls Manila Bay

Upscaling the quality and delivery of public services to its constituents, Parañaque City LGU, in partnership with Ayala Malls, has recently launched its ambitious joint project - the first-ever Express Lingkod Office (ELO) Serbisyo Center in Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
At the ribbon-cutting of the Paranaque Express Lingkod Office Serbisyo Center at Ayala Malls by the Bay (from L-R): DILG Director, John A. Visca, City Veterinarian, Dra. Karen Vicencio, Ayala Malls Manila Bay General Manager France Eusebio, DILG NCR Regional Director Ma. Lourdes Agustin, DTI NCR Regional Director Marcelina Alcantara, Ayala Malls Vice President, AC Legarda, Ayala Malls President, Christopher Maglanoc, Mayor Eric L. Olivarez, BPLO Chief and Data Protection Officer, Atty. Melanie T. Soriano-Malaya, Paranaque District 2 Councilor Florencia Amurao and Paranaque District 1 Councilor Vandolph Quizon

Located at the fourth floor of the mall, the one-stop-shop service center is the first of its kind in the country, bringing under one roof both personal and business frontline services of the Parañaque City Government.

The ELO Serbisyo Center provides a full range of government-related services within reach of any transacting individual or business entity in one accessible and convenient location.

Present at the launch were Ayala Malls President Christopher Maglanoc, Paranaque City Mayor Eric L. Olivarez, DILG NCR Regional Director Ma. Lourdes Agustin, DTI NCR Regional Director Marcelina Alcantara, BPLO Chief and Data Protection Officer Atty. Melanie T. Soriano - Malaya, and other officials.

Parañaque residents can now conveniently process their COVID-19 vaccination and certificate, senior citizen cards and booklet, police clearance, traffic-related violations settlement, health certificates, birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and many more.

Likewise, the hub makes it easier for enterprises to process their business registration, business permits, building permits, mayor’s permits, real property taxes, and community taxes, among others.

The key departments are co-located in the public service center, including the Business Permits and Licensing Office, City Health Office, Local Civil Registrar’s Office, City Treasurer’s Office, Persons with Disability Affairs Office, and Office of Senior Citizen’s Affairs, etc.

“Today, the first-ever Express Lingkod Office Serbisyo Center is open for business, a momentous occasion that we are happy to commemorate. The event today is a culmination of an idea hatched around the middle of last year between our Manila Bay team, BPLO head Atty. Malaya, and the office of the good Mayor Olivarez. From a simple satellite office, this eventually evolved to something bigger – a one-stop-shop for all government-related services for Paranaque,” said Ayala Malls President Christopher Maglanoc.

“This is a groundbreaking initiative that I would like to emulate in our other mall locations and once again, I would like to thank Mayor Olivarez and his team for collaborating with us on this innovative project,” Maglanoc shared.

The ELO Serbisyo Center is open from 10:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday.

WWF-Philippines, Ayala Malls, and partners launch #AyokoNgPlastik movement to work towards a future without harmful plastic

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines, Ayala Malls and other partner corporations, united under the call to end plastic pollution and work together for a more sustainable future for the Philippines, officially launched #AyokoNgPlastik movement at Glorietta 2 Activity Center last October 16, 2018.

With eight million tons of plastic ending up in oceans every year, the Philippines ranks as the world’s third plastic polluter of oceans. The #AyokoNgPlastik movement hopes to address these alarming facts by bringing together companies, individuals, and other sectors to minimize and eventually put a stop to single-use plastics such as straws, bags, bottles, and cups. Refusing these is a simple yet strong first step that individuals can take to commit to a sustainable lifestyle, especially since the harm that these materials cause directly affect humans.

“Plastic pollution is a serious threat not only to marine life but to human life as well. Plastics don’t completely degenerate and just break down into small pieces ─ microplastics ─ which are ingested by the fish that we eat. The possibility of plastics ending up on dinner plates is a serious concern and a health hazard,” said Joel Palma, WWF-Philippines President and CEO.

The movement is one of the major projects of WWF-Philippines this year. Initiated by its Next Generation Council (NGC), the goal is to raise awareness and encourage individuals to live more consciously and for businesses to operate more sustainably. Introduced during the event, the NGC is made up of young movers and shakers who heeded the call to spread WWF-Philippines’ conservation thrusts. Headed by The Net Group Chair Raymond Rufino, members include television host and columnist Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi, Philux COO Stephanie Kienle-Gonzalez, Magsaysay Transport and Logistics COO Jesse Maxwell, Teach for the Philippines CEO Clarissa Delgado, The Moment Group Co-Founder and Creative Director Abba Napa, and former WWF-Philippines National Youth Council Chairperson Alexa Cancio.

"Driven by deep concern, every member of the NGC is volunteering time, energy and resources to reduce single-use plastic pollution in the country. The challenge is daunting but we are determined and committed," stated Rufino.

Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Malls Deputy Head

Ayala Malls, one of the biggest shopping mall developers in the Philippines, has also expressed support for the movement. As part of the Ayala group of companies (recognized by the United Nations as a sustainable development pioneer), Ayala Malls is committed to driving sustainable business and living practices across their many developments.

“Sustainability has long been a priority for Ayala Malls and we’re especially proud to have the chance to continue the momentum with WWF. We launched our initial campaign in 2009, with the aim to bring focus to the importance of sustainable living, and last year we established our intent for no plastic shopping bags across Ayala Malls. We are thrilled to have found a partner in WWF for #AyokoNgPlastik campaign, as we work together for a more sustainable future for the Philippines,” said Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Malls Deputy Head.

In addition to Ayala Malls, other official partners of the #AyokoNgPlastik movement present during the event include National Geographic, Bellevue Hotels and Resorts, Bo's Coffee, Corkcicle, Coffee Project, Daluyon Beach and Mountain Resort, Puerto Pension Inn, foodpanda, HSBC, Impact Hub Manila, IVO, The Lind Boracay, The Moment Group, Toby's Estate, CIBO, and CNN-Philippines.

“We’re very grateful to have a number of companies join the movement this early on. With their involvement, it makes it easier for Filipinos to veer away from plastic and choose a sustainable alternative instead. We’re hoping to get more partners to participate in this cause,” Palma remarked.

WWF-Philippines National Ambassadors Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez, who hosted the kickoff event, both stressed the importance of every Filipino’s participation in the movement and how this can contribute to positive environmental change by stating how cleaning up oceans and coastlines is essential in restoring marine life and reiterating the importance of preventing pollutants from entering the oceans.

“We’re very happy to see the growing number of people interested in beach cleanups. Now the challenge we must all take is to go beyond the beach and do whatever it takes to reduce our own carbon footprint,” Fernandez said.

“The amount of trash being collected during cleanups is just unimaginable. Everyone needs to realize that our trash is never actually gone and just ends up somewhere else. We need to be responsible travelers and consumers and avoid single-use plastics and recycle what we can,” Nelson added.

If production and usage of plastic remain unchanged, experts predict that there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050. Everyone is invited to take part in the #AyokoNgPlastik movement and can find more details through WWF-Philippines’ social media pages or the official #AyokoNgPlastik Facebook group, which now has almost 3,000 members since its launch 2 months ago.

Jack Ma graces the launch of GCash that leads future of payments in Philippines at Ayala Malls

Alibaba Group Founder and Executive Chairman Jack Ma graces the launch of Globe Telecom's GCash - cashless payment system for Ayala Malls on Wednesday, October 25 at Glorietta 4, Makati City.

In photo: Alibaba Founder and Executive Chairman Jack Ma (center, left) joins GCat, the GCash Mascot as it shows a sample of the QR code that is set to change the landscape of payments in the country. Together with him are (from L-R): Mynt President and CEO Anthony Thomas, Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, Ant Financial Services Group CEO Eric Jing, Ayala Corporation President and CEO Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Ayala Land President and CEO Bobby Dy, and Ant Financial SVP and Head of International Operations Douglas Feagin.

GCash is poised to lead the future of payments in the Philippines following the recent joint venture of Ant Financial, Globe Telecom, and Ayala Corporation which is seen to speed up the country’s digitization to make the lives of Filipinos much easier.

This developed as Chinese tech billionaire Jack Ma graced the opening of the Philippine retail industry to electronic payments through GCash. Ma was joined by Ant Financial Services Group CEO Eric Jing, Ayala Corporation President and COO Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, Ayala Land President and CEO Bobby Dy, and Mynt President and CEO Anthony Thomas.

Jack Ma

“Imagine a day when you can shop and buy cinema, bus and train tickets with a simple scan of your personal GCash QR code in your smart phone. The convenient daily life of 520 million Alipay users are enjoying will soon be realized in the Philippines. In the past months, Ant Financial has worked closely with GCash product of Mynt, as we are dedicated to bringing digital financial services to our friends in the Philippines.

Technology is helping more people to enjoy the benefits of digital financial services in a cost-effective, efficient and safe way. I hope we may share our technologies and experiences with our partner, helping them to better serve more local users," said Ant Financial Services Group CEO Eric Jing.

“We are thrilled to mark this special milestone with Mr. Jack Ma, and Mr. Eric Jing of Ant Financial — it goes without saying that we are very pleased to partner with Ant Financial, given their level of experience and expertise in this field. We look forward to innovating and evolving with the Filipino consumer, together. This day marks a special moment in the history of technology and payments in the Philippines — this launches the first broad application of such technology, and marks GCash as the leader in this space,” said Zobel de Ayala said.

Ayala seeks to promote financial inclusion for the underserved Filipinos. In doing so, it continuously invests in creating new channels and access points that broaden payment and lending options for all.

The partnership with Globe and Ant Financial Services Group, one of the world’s leading digital financial services providers and parent company of Alipay is aligned with Ayala’s recent strategic investments to meet the people’s changing needs, and accelerate the development of the Philippines’ digital economy.

Meanwhile, Cu noted that the partnership is now bearing fruit.

“We are happy to share the initial successes that will disrupt payment methods in the Philippines. In this country, only 5% of the population have credit cards, leaving almost everybody to carry cash all the time to pay for something. Today, we are introducing the 3rd method of payment -- GCash. We found the right partner and the right time to really scale up the business and change the way we use financial services.”
“Now that more people are using data on their smartphones, the time is ripe to enable digital payments using the smartphone and let this go mainstream. Our challenge today is to make digital payments the preferred choice among our customers instead of cash or credit cards,” he added.

Through GCash, particularly the scan to pay feature of the GCash App, Filipinos can now experience the convenient cashless lifestyle.

The new payment option is a game changer for both consumers and merchants. It allows customers to pay for goods and services by simply using their smartphones to scan QR codes displayed by merchants and establishments.

On the other hand, business owners also benefit from not having to install expensive machines as they are provided with a QR code sticker which buyers can scan to pay. Customers pay the exact amount, removing the need for coins or change. GCash sees this solution working not just for organized trade but even for the ambulant vendors.

Joining GCash in showcasing the future of payments in the Philippines is Ayala Malls. Known as a retail innovator, Ayala Malls is a perfect catapult for GCash to reach thousands of consumers while also improving the customer experience for Ayala Malls shoppers.

Glorietta is the first Ayala Mall to offer the GCash payment system in many of its shops and restaurants, as well as its cinemas. GCash will be rolled out very soon to other Ayala Malls such as Greenbelt, TriNoma, Market! Market!, Alabang Town Center, Ayala Center Cebu, Bonifacio High Street, UP Town Center, Ayala Malls The 30th, Ayala Malls Vertis North, and Ayala Malls South Park.

With the GCash scan to pay feature, Ayala Malls customers can catch up with the cashless experience of shoppers in other countries.

GCash is an internationally-acclaimed mobile wallet service of Mynt which can be used to buy load, pay bills, send money, and pay for goods and services whether online or offline.

Mañosa: Beyond Architecture: Traveling Exhibit Puts Spotlight On Architecture Icon

Get access to projects never before seen by the public when you visit “Mañosa: Beyond Architecture”, a traveling exhibit featuring renowned Filipino architect Francisco “Bobby” Mañosa.

The exhibit will be held from August 6 to 17 in Alabang Town Center and will move to TriNoma Mall from August 18 to September 9.
When everyone was focused on architectural feats in the great cities of the world and produced work to reflect these trends, Architect Bobby Mañosa used Philippine textiles, and building materials, championing Filipino architectural design through his work.

“For him, it’s not just about finding what’s beautiful. He works to keep leveling up, to keep innovating, and have Filipinos take pride in our own world class designs” says Denise Mañosa, the celebrated architect’s wife.

As a treat for the next generation of creatives who draw inspiration from his work, the exhibit showcases original drawings, models, and snapshots that chart Mañosa’s prolific career as an architect. Aside from an archive of photographs, vernacular materials, furniture, and interior elements, the exhibition will also explores his other creative pursuits as a jazz musician, toy designer, and craftsman.

This exhibit was originally put up in the National Museum of the Philippines earlier this year. For those who missed it, now is your chance to get to know more about Architect Mañosa.
“Through this exhibit, we hope to keep not only Bobby’s legacy in the country’s architecture industry alive but also, every Filipino’s love for our own. As he always tells us, ‘Architecture must be true to itself, its land, and its people’”, adds Denise.

The exhibit is organized by Tukod Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Mañosa Group of Companies, in partnership with Ayala Malls and Artkitektura. For more information on the exhibit, visit www.facebook.com/franciscomanosa.exhibit/.

Tukod Foundation started in 2000 with the publication of Architect Bobby’s first book “Designing Filipino: the Architecture of Bobby Mañosa” to serve as a resource material for students and architects alike. It offered scholarships to Architecture students as well. Over the years, Tukod Foundation went from publishing books and offering scholarships to championing Filipino pride.

To date, the foundation has community initiatives focusing on educating the youth about Filipino architecture and heritage. “Similar to Bobby and Mañosa Group of Companies’ aim of leveling things up, Tukod Foundation is all about leveling up the lives of Filipinos by sharing what the company and the family have in terms of expertise and resources,” says Denise.
