Top 10 Reasons Why There Couldn't Be a Filipino-American US President By David Letterman

I just saw this in Facebook posts by many ... David Letterman really did this on his show? Really funny, hilarious and it's true !

Top 10 Reasons Why There Couldn't Be a Filipino-American US President
By David Letterman

10. The White House is not big enough for in-laws and extended relatives.

9.  There are not enough parking spaces at the White House for 2 Honda Civics,
2 Toyota Land Cruisers, 3 Toyota Corollas, a Mercedes Benz, a BMW , and
     an MPV (My Pinoy Van).

8.  Dignitaries generally are intimidated by eating with their fingers at State dinners.

7.  There are too many dining rooms in the White House – where will they put
the picture of the Last Supper?

6. The White House walls are not big enough to hold a pair of giant wooden
     spoon and fork.

5. Secret Service staff won't respond to "psst… psst" or "hoy.hoyhoy!"

4. Secret Service staff will not be comfortable driving the presidential car with a Holy Rosary
hanging on the rear view mirror, or the statue of the Santo Nino on the dashboard.

3. No budget allocation to purchase a Karaoke music-machine for every room in the White House.

2. State dinners do not allow "Take Home".

AND THE NUMBER I REASON WHY THERE COULDN'T BE A FILIPINO-AMERICAN U.S. PRESIDENT IS…

1. Air Force One does not allow overweight Balikbayan boxes!!

Bruno Mars with his newest single "It Will Rain"

"It Will Rain" is part of the soundtrack of the highly anticipated movie
"Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1."

Bruno Mars - It Will Rain Lyrics

If you ever leave me, baby,
Leave some morphine at my door
'Cause it would take a whole lot of medication
To realize what we used to have,
We don't have it anymore.

There's no religion that could save me
No matter how long my leaves are on the floor
So keep in mind all the sacrifices I'm makin'
Will keep you by my side
Will keep you from walkin' out the door.

Cause there'll be no more sunlight
if I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
if I lose you, baby
Just let the clouds, I
I will do the same if you walk away
Everyday, it will rain

I'll never be your mother's favorite
Your daddy can't even look me in the eye
Oooh if I was in their shoes, I'd be doing the same thing
Sayin there goes my little girl
walkin' with that troublesome guy

But they're just afraid of something they can't understand
Oooh well little darlin' watch me change their minds
Yea for you I'll try I'll try I'll try
I'll pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding
That'll make you mine

Cause there'll be no more sunlight
if I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
if I lose you, baby
Just like the clouds, I
I will do the same if you walk away
Everyday, it will rain

I'll do the same
goodbye, don't just say, goodbye
I'll pick up these broken pieces 'til I'm bleeding
That'll make it right

Cause there'll be no more sunlight
if I lose you, baby
There'll be no clear skies
if I lose you, baby
Just like the clouds, I
I will do the same if you walk away
Everyday, it will rain

Adele's 'Someone Like You'

Adele has created a Billboard upset with the rise of her song “Someone Like You” from spot 19 to 1 on the music charts. It is the biggest jump in history for a song that is not a single.

"Someone Like You" is a song by British singer-songwriter Adele. Written by Adele and Dan Wilson for her second studio album 21, the song was inspired by a broken relationship of hers, and lyrically it speaks of Adele coming to terms with it.

I heard that your settled down.
That you found a girl and your married now.
I heard that your dreams came true.
Guess she gave you things I didn't give to you.

Old friend why are you so shy?
It ain't like you to hold back or hide from the lie.

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited.
But I couldn't stay away I couldn't fight it.
I'd hoped you'd see my face & that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over.

Nevermind I'll find someone like you.
I wish nothing but the best for you too.
Don't forget me I beg I remember you said:-
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead"
Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead yeah.

You'd know how the time flies.
Only yesterday was the time of our lives.
We were born and raised in a summery haze.
Bound by the surprise of our glory days.

I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away I couldn't fight it.
I'd hoped you'd see my face & that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over yet.

Nevermind I'll find someone like you.
I wish nothing but the best for you too.
Don't forget me I beg I remember you said:-
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead" yay.

Nothing compares no worries or cares.
Regret's and mistakes they're memories made.
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?

Nevermind I'll find someone like you.
I wish nothing but the best for you too.
Don't forget me I beg I remembered you said:-
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead"

Nevermind I'll find someone like you.
I wish nothing but the best for you too.
Don't forget me I beg I remembered you said:-
"Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead"
Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead yay yeh yeah

It was reported that the music video for the song was already filmed in Paris, France and it was directed by English director Jake Nava. Several black-and-white pictures which showed Adele "gazing out over a river against a cloudy backdrop" were also posted.. Talking about the video, Nava said, "The location evokes style and romance. And shooting early in the morning allows you to focus on Adele in this lonely and emotional space." The video will be premiered on 29 September at 7:56 p.m. EST on MTV and VEVO.James Montgomery of MTV News called it "a somber, black-and-white affair, featuring Adele wandering the early morning streets and pining for her long-lost love. It's a perfect match for the song's jaw-dropping emotional range — raw and unfiltered and incredibly sad but also, in a lot of ways, beautiful and resolute."

Adele (born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins) is a Grammy-winning British singer-songwriter who popularized the chart-topping song "Rolling in the Deep." She is currently in the middle of her "Adele Live" concert tour which kicked off last March 2011 and scheduled in various cities in North America and Europe in the coming months.

Steps To Happiness

Everybody Knows:
You can't be all things to all people.
You can't do all things at once.
You can't do all things equally well.
You can't do all things better than everyone else.
Your humanity is showing just like everyone else's.

So:

You have to find out who you are, and be that.
You have to decide what comes first, and do that.
You have to discover your strengths, and use them.
You have to learn not to compete with others,
Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.

Then:

You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness.
You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions.
You will have learned to live with your limitations.
You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due.
And you'll be a most vital mortal.

Dare To Believe:

That you are a wonderful, unique person.
That you are a once-in-all-history event.
That it's more than a right, it's your duty, to be who you are.
That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish.
And we'll be able to stay one up on what used to get us.

May God Bless you and keep you safe,

Statement of President Aquino on Typhoon Pedring, September 27, 2011

Statement of
His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III
President of the Philippines
On Typhoon Pedring

[Released on September 27, 2011]

I have been in touch with Secretaries Soliman, Gazmin, and Almendras. I have instructed the Executive Secretary to compile information from NDRMMC and to inform our people of conditions as well as of government efforts to mitigate the effects of the storm.

From Secretary Soliman, there have been two casualties thus far, in Maguindanao where there is severe flooding. People have not evacuated as they prefer to stay with their relatives: nonetheless relief packs have been readied and are being distributed.

In Camarines Sur and Albay, preventive evacuations are ongoing.

Thirty-seven percent of Meralco service area is without power due to tripping caused by high winds. Now that the winds have abated, Meralco is working on restoring power to affected areas. In Aurora and Isabela, we are awaiting the passage of the storm to restore service.

In Marikina, the water level is not yet in the critical level but there are ongoing voluntary evacuations.
I am in constant touch with these members of my cabinet and the Executive Secretary has been instructed to keep me and the public informed of conditions pertaining as well as mitigation efforts.

'MMK' Celebrates 20TH Anniversary!

The longest running drama anthology in Asia television is now celebrating its 20th year anniversary! "Maalaala Mo Kaya"or "MMK" is now on its second decade,
proudly celebrates its 20th year of unprecedented success in featuring stories that are not only rich in values, but also mirrors the Filipino soul and humanity.

Started in 1991, "MMK" continuously inspires people with different real-life stories sent through letters. For 20 years now,"MMK" remains to be undisputed drama-anthology even though other networks used to imitate its format.

Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN President who’s also the host of MMK, cordially invites everyone to celebrate with the show’s two-decade victory in a documentary special, including a much-awaited heart-to-heart interview to be done by no less than another powerful woman, who is as successful in her field, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos. It’s very rare to see two pillars of the Philippine television in a special tete-a-tete to be witnessed by Filipinos all over the world.

With this documentary special, which airs this September 25, Sunday’s Best on ABS-CBN, MMK reminisces on its valuable relationship with its millions of loyal viewers for the past 20 years. It has successfully connected with everyone–barring gender, age or wealth, and has touched, inspired and changed lives of Filipinos.

MMK 20th Anniversary Special also aims to recollect and share again with each other all Filipino values, life lessons, challenges and redemptions as it recalls the unforgettable real life stories—from the viewpoint of “real people.”

Most sought after Kapamilya stars Piolo Pascual, KC Concepcion, Sam Milby, Jericho Rosales, Vhong Navarro, Angelica Panganiban and other artists who have become part of MMK’s continuing legacy will also share how did portraying different roles have changed their lives.

“Sa loob ng mahabang panahon, kabahagi na namin kayo sa pagbuo ng magagandang alaala, dahil kayo ang aming inspirasyon. At bilang pasasalamat , ngayong buwan ng Oktubre, espesyal ang bawat Sabado ng gabi, Kapamilya. Ipagdiwang natin ang 20 taon nating pinagsamahan,” goes Santos-Concio’s invitation.

Also, this October MMK will present its anniversary episodes—starring some of the brightest actors in the industry—shot in some of the world’s most magnificent places.  Catch MMK’s “Palawan,” “Bukidnon-Happy Feet,” “Barcelona,” “Aurora” and “Canada” episodes, Saturdays, after “Wansapanataym” on ABS-CBN.

Then and now, Ms. Charo Santos-Concio is the host of the said drama anthology. Her trademark, the way she hosted the show is now a television legacy.

Happy 20th Anniversary "MMK!"

Dear Facebook: Enough, already. Our outrage can't keep up with your changes

by Lylah M. Alphonse, Senior Editor, Manage Your Life

It's time to be outraged about Facebook again...

No matter how many times the Facebook gods make changes to that social network's site, users are up in arms—and they flock to Facebook to talk about it. Here's a rundown of some of the funniest, on-target gripes we've seen about the latest raft of Facebook changes that were rolled out on Thursday. All photos from Facebook, of course.

Appalled? Read this

Every joke has a kernel of truth.

It's like the Russian Doll of Facebook
A Facebook feed within a Facebook feed? There lies madness.

Well, isn't that what it's for?

What's a status update for if not for venting? And right now, many users are venting about the same thing.

It could be worse. They could have called it "Facebookster"

We wonder what Netflix CEO Reed Hasting's Facebook status is right now?

When in doubt, ask some puppies

Designer Marnie MacLean worked through the seven stages of Facebook grief—shock, confusion, indignation, activism, flounce, distraction, and acceptance—with the help of some adorable puppies. Extreme times call for extreme measures...

Ah, perspective...

Frankly, we prefer to distract ourselves with news about elephants that can paint. But if the Facebook changes are really troubling you, there are three things you can try to make it look a bit more like it used to:

Cnet.com describes Better Facebook as "a Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera extension that's been around for a few years now"; it allows users to customize the Facebook features that they love (or hate) most.

A Facebook group called "I Hate the New Facebook Profile" offers a quick way to make the new news feed look more like the old one: Create a customized list that includes all of your Facebook friends, then add the new list to your favorites; when you click on it from the home page, your news feed will look the way it used to.

Google Chrome users can take advantage of a free plug in to remove the new Facebook news ticker feed. It's called—you guessed it—The Facebook News Ticker Remover.

Tatlong Tabing, A Tony Perez Trilogy

Tony Perez, who has spent over two decades eloquently dissecting the Filipino Psyche, is an important playwright in contemporary Philippine drama. A prolific playwright with several volumes of published works, his plays deal with adult themes such as intense love, betrayal, separation, compassion, poverty, hunger, marriage, birth, and death. This trilogy traces his artistic development as a playwright. Sierra Lakes is a tension-filled play that explores issues among four people caught in a complicated web of love and desire. Bombita is a black comedy which questions the blind obedience and subservience behaviour of young rookies in the military. Funny, but almost in a pathetic way, it reveals the emotional and intellectual short-comings of our men in uniform. A psychological drama, Nobyembre, Noong Akala Ko’y Mahal Kita is the second play in the multi-awarded playwright’s thought-provoking trilogy about love, friendship and companionship, and their consequences in our lives.

His Wonderful Ways

This morning sun shines with its golden rays
Let your heart rejoice in wonderful ways

Belong to the Lord, continue to pray
Nothing will harm you the rest of your days

The Lord, He protects His children, that's so
His band of angels with trumpets they blow

They fly around us and therefore we know
That He is with us wherever we go

With Jesus inside, there is nothing to fear
No need to be scared or to cry a tear

My spirit rejoices for He is near
Accept His comfort, His voice you will hear

He says, "Don't be scared and loud we must sing."
As the angels make all of heaven ring

Their voices so pretty like birds in spring
Mighty our Father all hail to the King.

Rome Film Festival to honor Richard Gere

ROME -   Richard Gere will collect an honorary acting award at the Rome Film Festival opening next month.

Festival organizers on Wednesday cited the Hollywood actor's work with such great directors as Robert Altman, Akira Kurosawa and Sidney Lumet, as well as his humanitarian work.

During the festival, the actor of "American Gigolo" and "Pretty Woman" will hold a meeting with movie buffs to discuss his decades-long career. The festival will also screen a restored version of "Days of Heaven," a movie directed by Terrence Malick in 1978 that starred a young Gere.

The Rome event, a recent addition to the international festival circuit, runs from Oct. 27 through Nov. 4.

Make A Stand : CBCP Year of the Youth Official Theme Song

Make A Stand is the official theme song for the double celebration for the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Year of the Youth and the Episcopal Commision on Youth (ECY)'s 25th Anniversary December 16, 2010 - December 16, 2011.

MAKE A STAND

How long must we sit and wait for a hero?
And how long must we waste today for tomorrow?
To our people that’s lost in the dark
We can be guiding hand, shining star
If we only could see that the hero is here
In our hearts, young as we are…
We can stand and make a stand
Heart to heart and hand in hand
Let that voice out inside
That we can’t keep on hiding
Gotta work to make things work
Gotta change to change the world
‘Cause we cannot deny, we gotta give it a try
We are never too young to come as one
And to make a stand.

Stand firm, be a guiding light to the nation
Stand proud, let's unite in one celebration
With the Power of God from above
We can tell all the world of His love
Standing firm in the faith
Doing all of our work from the heart
We've got to start to make a stand
We can stand and make a stand
Heart to heart and hand in hand
Let that voice out inside
That we can’t keep on hiding
Gotta work to make things work
Gotta change to change the world
‘Cause we cannot deny, we gotta give it a try
We are never too young to come as one
And to make a stand.
For together, we’re strong
Now it won’t be for long
Till we heal this broken land
If we live what we’ve learned
Take this time to take our turn
To make a stand!
Let that voice out inside
That we can’t keep on hiding
Gotta work to make things work
Gotta change to change the world
‘Cause we cannot deny, we gotta give it a try
We are never too young to come as one
And to make a stand.
We can stand and make a stand
Heart to heart and hand in hand
Let that voice out inside
That we can’t keep on hiding
Gotta work to make things work
Gotta change to change the world
‘Cause we cannot deny, we gotta give it a try
We are never too young to come as one
We can make a stand.

God bless your day whatever your mood maybe.....
May the angels guide you and protect you from harm

If you are travelling, may you find the road
and arrive at your destination safely.
If troubles comes along the way,
may it turn into blessings favorable to all.

May you meet new friends and may the old ones stay.

May the love of our Divine Creator fill your emptiness
and may you feel it in the vastness of the universe.

If you get so tired today,
may you find time to look up the sky,
feel the air, recharge and rejuvenate

And in the all the things you did today,
may your faith increase.

May you be inspired by the diversity of people's personalities
and be grateful that you were granted the chance to lead them

And at the end of the day tonight, as you rest,
may you be thankful for all the blessings that this day had
and pray to forgive those who offended you.
Amen.

KWC KARAOKE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011 Filipino singers make history in prestigious international singing competition

Philippines’ first representatives in the 2011 Karaoke World Championships held in Killarney, Ireland on September 8-10 made a remarkable start. Joel Cruz was the 2011 KWC Male 1st Runner-Up and Lyda Shyla Roxas was the 2011 KWC Female 3rd Runner-Up. Indeed, the 2011 KWC World Finals marked another memorable experience for all its participants. KWC Philippines’ first experience was a blast with Joel and Lyda making it to the top 5. Their commendable performances served as a clear proof of Filipinos’ world class talent.

For his winning piece, Joel sang Bridge over Troubled Water (originally performed by Simon & Garfunkel), blowing the crowd away with his electrifying performance.
